More information about our CCW cotton covered wire
The wire used for this product is enameled copper wire, similar to wire used in transformers and coils. The voltage ratigs given by the manufactureres range from 2- 5kV but for this use, they do not warrant this ratings, also because they have no influence on how you use the wire.
In fact the wire is safer than products using non-isolated wire braided with cotton.
We sell those wires rated as LOW VOLTAGE WIRES, VOLTAGE <42 V.
In fact, we were curious what the wires will withstand. So we tested some samples. The following documentation is for your information and NOT a warranted product specification.
1.) Wire against wire, DC 4kV static, PSU used: Heinzinger HCN700M-6500, 0-6,5kV 100mA

Test ended after 30 minutes at 4kV without arcing.
2.) Wire +3kV DC against Chassis. Same PSU

Test ended after 30 minutes at 3kV without arcing.
Please take care, this picture shows how NOT TO TREAT WIRES. We used this worst case szenario for our tests
But you do please always take care during construction that you
use rubber grommets
avoid sharp edges
avoid sharp bending of the wire, always bend over a round radius of approx 1/8" minimum
Finally: Tube gear does not like moisture, take care of this, also of moisture coming from condensed water after bringing cold gear into heated rooms.
